Getting paid
How much of a job do I keep?
You keep 80 percent of your labor and your service fee. Duably takes 20. What you spend on materials is never charged a fee: it comes back to you in full, on top of your 80.
When does the money reach me?
Your payout releases when the customer confirms the job is done. If they do not confirm within 24 hours, it confirms on its own, unless they have reported a problem with the work. Their card is charged when you mark the job complete, and the money clears Stripe about 2 business days after that.
From there you cash out to your bank whenever you want. There is no minimum, Duably takes nothing to move it, and a cash-out reaches your bank in 1 to 2 business days.
Do I need my own card reader or payment setup?
No. Duably runs the customer’s card. It is authorized the moment they approve your quote, before any of the work starts, and charged when you mark the job complete. You never invoice anyone and you never chase a check.
Your payout account is set up and maintained for you, so there is no merchant account to open and no dashboard to log into. Your 1099 is delivered in the app at tax time.
Accepting jobs
What do I need before I can accept a job?
A submitted state license for that job’s trade and submitted proof of insurance. Submitted, not approved: we review your documents in the background while you get to work. Licensing is per trade, so you can take jobs in the trades you have licensed while another license is still outstanding. Insurance is account wide, so it is one upload for everything you do.
Connecting a payout account can wait. Duably asks for it once you have 3 completed jobs or $500 in payouts waiting, whichever comes first, and accepting new jobs pauses until you connect it.
What do I see before I accept?
The trade, the problem in the customer’s own words, the city, the days and times they asked for, and their photos if you are eligible to accept that job. The exact address, the customer’s name and their phone number appear when you accept, not before. Browsing jobs costs you nothing.
What happens if a credential is rejected in review?
Accepting new jobs pauses until you resubmit: for that one trade if it is a license, account wide if it is your insurance. The jobs already on your schedule keep running. Resubmitting puts the credential back in review and reopens your job board.
The arrival window
How does scheduling work?
You confirm one exact 2-hour arrival window at the moment you accept, with the customer’s preferred days and times in front of you. Picking outside them warns you first rather than blocking you, and the window has to fall inside the hours Duably runs, which are 8am to 8pm. It locks when you confirm it, and the job is yours: nothing re-opens to other pros behind you.
When can I go en route?
Starting 2 hours before the arrival window opens. The app refuses it earlier than that, because leaving earlier is an appointment change rather than a status change. A same-day shift of up to 2 hours is an Adjust Arrival, anything larger is a Reschedule, and the customer approves either one before the appointment changes.
Cancellations and declined quotes
What if the customer declines my quote?
You are still paid for the visit. The service fee is authorized before you drive out, and you cannot go en route until it is, so the trip is never unpaid work. It settles the way any job does: you keep 80 percent of it.
What if the customer cancels on me?
Before they confirm payment, cancelling is free to them and there is nothing to pay you. Once they have confirmed payment, what they are charged depends on how close they are to the arrival window.
| When they cancel | What they are charged |
|---|---|
| More than 24 hours before the arrival window | Free |
| Between 24 and 2 hours before the arrival window | 50 percent of the authorized service fee |
| Less than 2 hours before the arrival window | 80 percent of the authorized service fee |
| Once you are en route | They cannot cancel |
You are paid 80 percent of whatever cancellation fee is collected, the same split as any job. Once you are en route the customer cannot cancel at all: their way out is to let you arrive, hear what you found, and decline the quote.
Can I cancel a job I accepted?
Until you have shared findings and a quote, yes, and every cancel needs a reason. Cancel before you arrive and the job goes straight back on the job board for another pro, and it is not offered to you again. Cancel once you are on site and the job ends there instead of going back on the board.
Once findings and a quote are shared, the app refuses it. The customer is holding a live quote at that point, so the job ends only if they end it or Duably support steps in. Every provider cancel is recorded on your account, and one inside 24 hours of the arrival window goes back on the board marked urgent.
If your question is about a payout, email us first at support@duably.com with the job it belongs to. We can see the job, the quote and the charge on it, along with your recent payouts and bank transfers, so we answer most payout questions in one reply.
